The Association of Local Democracy Agencies(ALDA) is an international non-governmental organization active in the fields of Good Governance and Citizens’ participation and operates in the European Union member States and ENPI countries, with its network of 13 Local Democracy Agencies (LDAs).

Job description:a) Management of programmes in the MENA Region of ALDAb) Liaise with the European institutions and in particular with European Commission, including the activities for DG Enlargement and Neighborhood countriesc) Assistance in drafting relevant projectsd) Policy work and advocacy for ALDA, in liaison with the Secretary General Officee) Assistance for the development of the Local Democracy Agencies in the MENA regionf) Delivery of capacity building actions focused on cooperation issues and addressed to local authorities and civil society

Working conditions:• Job starting mid of February 2015• Full time job• Remuneration according to the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Location : ALDA office, Palais de l’Europe, Strasbourg, France.

Profile/competences:• Education at the university level or Master• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the NGO sector • High motivation• Autonomy, initiative, flexibility• Team spirit• Languages: Excellent English and French, Arabic is an asset• Experience in working with local authorities and/or civil society groups• Experience in project drafting and project management is an asset.• Training capacity and significant experience as trainer• Knowledge of computer tools: Internet, Word, Excel• Availability to travel• Demonstrable international experience through study or work outside of her/his country of origin.

Activities/Responsibilities:1. Develop projects of ALDA working with local authorities and civil society groups in EU and Neighborhood countries2. Liaise with and support all the contacts that ALDA has with the European Union Institutions and develop further contacts3. Lobby for the issues promoted by ALDA in the EU institutions and platforms.4. Help enlarge the network of partners and members of ALDA at the European level5. Inform the members and partners of ALDA of the main issues of ALDA as to EU policies6. Elaborate possible project proposals together with the ALDA staff and in some cases, if relevant and appropriate, take part in the implementation.7. Develop, manage and deliver capacity building actions (trainings) addressed to local authorities and civil society
